Taaaaaa-Daaaaaaaaa!!!

So if you have visited my blog or website before you will have noticed that things look a little different than usual.  I would like to introduce you to my new branding and I hope you like it !!

If you are a friend of mine on Facebook or a member of my group on Facebook or have my on your Twitter you will know that my blog has been down for almost a week and I have been STRESSED out about getting it back.  The Cliff Notes version is that when I transferred my website over to my new site through Clickbooq (which I love!), the blog didn’t manage to make the trip over with it.  Bryan at Clickbooq really helped get the ball rolling to fix my blog and it was his hard work that got this rescue mission started.

So as my little blog was lost in Cyberspace, Matt through ProPhoto Blogs worked his A@# off trying to rescue my lovely new blog and bring it back to life.  I was really upset thinking that I had potentially lost over a years worth of blog entries.   So I am soooo grateful for having Matt come to its resue.  I can’t thank him and the staff at ProPhoto Blogs enough!  Matt provided AMAZING customer service!  I have raved about this company before (I even have a little blurb on them at the top of my blog) as I have been SO impressed with their easy-to-use awesome blog templates, but this experience just made me love their company that much more.  Matt, you are a blog saver and I can’t thank you enough!

So back to the story of how this whole new blog / rebranding experience started.

I LOVED my previous logo, designed by my good friend and uber talented graphic designer, Jo!   Her website is under construction, but I will link to her fabulous business as soon as it is up.   Sidenote – Darren and I were just in England for the week visiting her and her boyfriend Dan (who is also an uber talented designer himself) HI GUYS!  I loved my pink K logo.  It was my first logo.  Having a logo was a milestone in my business.  I finally felt like I was a legit business owner and I was finally proud to give someone a business card 🙂  That was a BIG step.  The experience in creating it was really my first experience in digging into what my business was all about and what I wanted to convey to my clients and I have a special place in my heart for that first logo as it also represented a lot of my personality in the design itself.

As my business and photography has grown over the past year I felt that my logo needed to change as well to represent the imagery I hope to create.   As I have mentioned on the blog over the past month, I had the pleasure of working with Richard and Amy of Red Leaf Studios on the brand redesign for my business.  This was an incredible experience.  One that transcended my branding and has truly helped me examine all aspects of my business.  They have just begun to offer this service to photographers and if you are contemplating re-vamping your branding I would HIGHLY recommend getting in touch with these two!  In fact, they just did a blog post on their site about this service which you can read here.

So without further aideu here is the link to my new and improved website.  I hope you like LOVE it.

And no post is complete without a photo.  Here is a teaser photo for the ever so patient Sarah and Stephen, who have waited extra long for their blog teaser.  I promise there is more images to come very soon!

I’d love to hear what you think about my new blog and website.  Leave a comment or drop me a line 🙂

Wow, I love the new blog and website! You are branded my friend! Lovely photo above as well!

Bad Little Blogger

I have been a bad little blogger !!  Darren and I just moved and I have been without internet for a WEEK.  A whole week !!  I realized quite quickly (like 2 hours into the move) how dependent I am on this world wide web.  So dependent I may need to start attending meetings of some sort !

I have been so busy with getting ready for the move, weddings and trying to move forward with some really exciting re-branding that my poor blog has suffered and was put on the back burner for awhile.  Now that things are getting a little more under control I knew it was time to get some long overdue images up on the blog.  Thank you to all of my fabulous clients who have been waiting ever so patiently for their teaser images.

On another quick note I have to send out a huge thank you to Richard and Amy of Red Leaf Studios who I have been working with on some exciting re-branding.  You will see a taste of it below on my new watermark.  I plan on launching a fabulous new site and will be sending out a sneak peek SOON to those who are interested 🙂  While Amy and Richard were in town hosting their second photography workshop of the summer, I had the great fortune of hiring them for a one on one mentor session.  Cara, one of my best girlfriends was kind enough to model for us … (images coming soon!) and Darren and I were lucky enough to have a photo session of our own.  We were thrilled !! If you would like to check out their incredible work and images of Darren and I, check out their blog here.

Hah, it started out as the 3rd, then the 3rd & 4th, and then the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th for my favourites but it’s useless going any further because I love all of these. Gorgeous little previews, and the new watermark looks real classy! Can’t wait for the entire re-brand!

Gorgeous work Kim. Congrats on all the new things in your life!!

Michelle & Darren {E-Session}

I am so lucky to photograph the lives of so many long time friends, and Michelle is one of them!  I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her and her husband’s wedding this coming December and was stoked that they also wanted to do a fun engagement session.  E-sessions are sooooo valuable and I HIGHLY recommend them to all my wedding clients.  Not only do they provide an opportunity for some fabulous shots during this special time in your lives but you can use the images for fun things like guestbooks and invites.  Most importantly though, these sessions provide us with a chance to work together before your big day.  I notice a night and day difference in the images of couples I have worked with previously.  Mostly because they know what to expect on their wedding day and they are relaxed in front of the camera right from the get go.  This is a huge advantage for your wedding photos and can really make a world of difference.

Michelle and Darren chose a location that is so meaningful to them, Darren’s parent’s property on Pier’s island.  I hadn’t been to Pier’s for years and I was so excited to go back there.  Our photo options were limitless!  We took our time exploring the island and worked in some fabulous locations that they had scouted out ahead of time.  We even managed to catch a few images with Nutmeg, their adorable puppy who played a huge part in Darren’s proposal to Michelle.

Well guys, photographing you two was a breeze!  I can’t wait for your wonderful winter wedding (wow, say that 10 times fast!).  Here are just a few teasers.  Hope you love them 🙂

A beautiful gift

Tomasz contacted me before his wife’s birthday as he was thinking of surprising her with a  maternity portrait session as her birthday present.  How sweet is that ?!  As you will see in a moment, his wife Kelly is stunning, with the most perfect and adorable pregnant belly EVER and I am so glad they chose me to document this incredible time in their lives with special photographs.

I can’t tell you how awesome it is to work with clients who are as excited about their photos as I am!

Kelly and Tomasz I know your bundle of joy will be here any day now, and I can’t wait to meet them 🙂  Thank you for being so fabulous to work with.  Kelly I am still blown away by your phenomenal yoga moves!   Blew my mind!

Hope you love the teasers!

Haley & Jordan {Married}

Haley and Jordan were married at the beautiful Starling Lane Winery.  They stood in the shade of a beautiful tree as they said their vows and became husband and wife.

Haley had a gorgeous vintage glam look.  She had the most beautiful wedding shoes EVER (I may be a bit biased as I had worn the same ones on my wedding day!),  her birdcage veil was the perfect accessory to her vintage inspired gown and her bright red lips just sealed the deal.  She looked breathtaking.  And judging by the expression on Jordan’s face as he saw his bride for the first time I know  that he would definitely agree with me.

I have said this before on the blog, but Victoria is one small world.  Haley was referred to me by her sister (and good friend of mine, Melia).  At this wedding not only had I shot photos of Melia before but also Haley’s maid of honour, Shawna.  It was a blast getting to work with these ladies again and it was a true pleasure to work with Haley and Jordan for the first (and I hope not last!) time.  Darren (my husband) also had a connection to this wedding as he had gone to elementary school with Jordan and his brother.  Small, small world !

Scroll down for a few teasers from this fantastic day!  And is it just me, or does she strike a resemblance to a familiar reality TV star who’s name also starts with an “H” and rhymes with “tidy”?
