Cara {Allure Session}

Cara is a friend of mine and I have had the privilege of having her model for me on a couple of occasions now.  As you will see in a few short moments, the camera loves her.

For her Allure Session we wanted to find a location to shoot in that was really elegant, romantic and added a luxurious quality to the images.  I knew just the place.  Fairholme Manor is a European style boutique Inn with six lovingly restored suites in  large historic mansion.  I had found it a few years ago when I had taken my mom there for her birthday for a local girls get-a-way with my sister.  We had gone for an amazing dinner and then spent the night laughing, reminiscing and enjoying the exquisite room.  The next morning we were woken up by the amazing scent of freshly baked lemon and lavender scones and homemade granola that drifted up to our room and had us getting ready mighty fast to head downstairs for breakfast.  Our meal was so delicious that I could see why people not only come to stay at Fairholme for the beautiful Manor, but for the food too!

Shooting Cara in the amazing natural light that poured in from the bay windows was an absolute dream.  Cara, I hope you love these images as much as I do.  You are such a lovely person inside and out.  Thank you SO much for spoiling me with Sylvia’s Fabulous Fairholme Breakfast and Brunches cookbook !!  I have already made the Deep Dish Blueberry Vanilla French Toast and it was AMAZING.

xoxo

Ayla & Matt {Engaged}

The weather has been so hit or miss lately that I wasn’t sure what to expect for Matt & Ayla’s e-session.  The sky was gloomy grey and it even smelled like rain as we walked along the paths at Thetis Lake.  You know that smell when the rain is coming?  Growing up on the west coast it’s almost a comforting scent.  It is one of my favourite smells like after the first rainfall after days or weeks without rain.

We walked through the trails stopping here and there to admire the Arbutus trees and the few geese that swam by.  We stopped to capture photos and memories here and there enjoying our walk along the way.

Matt and Ayla are so comfortable with each other.  When I asked them to get cozy together Ayla would curl right into Matt as he opened his arms to her like it was “her spot”.  Their effortless ability to naturally fall right into a pose was a complete treat.  And despite the gloomy grey skies and drip drops of rain we captured their love in one of their favourite places.  How perfect is that ?

I look forward to shooting these two on a very special day in their lives in June, and I can’t wait !

Sandy {Details – Special Event Planning & Decor}

For those of you in the midst of wedding planning, you know how many details (pardon the pun!) there are to take care of and decisions that need to be made.  Getting married myself last year I was overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done.  Sandy Gibson is someone who helps take the stress out of planning a wedding.  She runs Details – Special Event Planning and Decor.  Sandy and I have worked together on a few occasions now and I am always excited to see her smiling face when I show up at a wedding.  When a client has chosen to hire an event planner it always helps to ensure that the day flows smoothly and it alleviates so much worry for them on their day.  And happy clients make me happy!

Here are a few photos of Sandy who is just adorable!  Don’t forget to click on the link above to check out her site and learn more about her business 🙂

She has such a pretty smile! 🙂

I am totally bribeable … if that’s even a word ??

I was at dinner last night at il Terrazzo with some of my bestest lady friends Chelsey, Lindsay, and Kelly to celebrate our friend Kristan’s birthday.  I swear I am still full.  I had the Fresh halibut filet baked with blackberries, green peppercorns, asiago cheese and white wine. Served with seasonal vegetables and fusilli pasta tossed in a three cheese sauce.  YUM !!  We shared some amazing wine as well as Creme Brule and a Chocolate Hazlenut Torte that was to die for.  Are you  hungry yet ??

I have taken shots of all of these pretty ladies at one point.  I took headshots for Kelly who is an amazing realtor and if anyone is looking for one you can contact her at: KellyLeach@royallepage.ca.  I took photos at Lindsay’s gorgeous wedding in Strathcona Park Lodge and I recently shot Kristan’s first family photos.  Most recently I got to work with Chels when I shot lovebird photos for her and Geoff, as you may have seen in the previous post below.

Our friend Teneel joined us towards the end of our dinner and I have to give her a huge thank you as she did an awesome job with Chelsey’s hair and make up.  If anyone is in need of hair / make up services for their wedding Teneel does fantastic work – 250-818-6626.  I am getting my hair done by her next week and I CAN’T WAIT !!!

Well last night at Kristan’s dinner I may have been bribed by Chels with a fabulous Rebar Cookbook to post the second series of their session.

Well folks, apparently I am totally bribeable.  Here they are …

This is not a typical black and white for me … but I love it !!

Liz KausteklisMay 22, 2010 - 12:54 am

SeanApril 25, 2010 - 6:44 am

First, third and LAST image are INCREDIBLE! Ugh! I’m becoming increasingly jealous of your work …dislike 😉 Your dinner sounded fabulous too!

Ashley McCormick PhotographyApril 24, 2010 - 11:26 pm

Ok, these photos are AMAZING as usual, but what I am most interested in is that FABULOUS sounding dinner you had! Holy cow, I seriously want some of that. Do you think it would ship?? 😉

Lara EichhornApril 24, 2010 - 5:50 pm

Both of the sets of them are great. I especially love their expressions and the vibrance of the last shot in this one.
