Happy Valentine’s Day !!

Last night at our ma-luxe team meeting I was talking about how I believe in expressing my gratitude for my clients in a variety of ways. Lisa of Ophelia Photography joked that I was the Martha Stewart of wedding photography! This made my night! Now I don’t aspire to be quite the domestic goddess that “Martha” is, but I have found out  over the years that I do have a passion for all things ‘home and garden’. I come by this honestly. My mom has inspired me for years with her talents in these exact areas! She is known for making a dinner party for four look like it should be the cover of Martha’s very own magazine.

I love Valentine’s Day. This year I wanted to do something special for my wedding clients to celebrate. I figured I should put my Pinterest addiction to good use. I found a recipe for these adorable rice crispy squares. How cute !!

Happy belated Family Day !!

On February 11th British Columbians celebrated our first official holiday dedicated to families! How fabulous. And I am not going to lie, having a new stat holiday to break up those few months without one, doesn’t hurt either! We celebrated by working hard in our yard, enjoying the outdoors. We are currently clearing a 1/4 acre of our property that is blackberry bushes. Good times. Don’t worry, we are saving some! So we worked away, Hayden played on the tractor and ‘helped’ rake and enjoyed our big bonfire. What a wonderful day.

And in celebration of this lovely day, here is a family portrait we recently had taken by the amazingly talented Jasalyn Thorne! I love it and can’t wait to put this new art up in our home!

Styled Shoot | By Design Weddings + Events

I was so sweetly honoured that Brittany and Katie of By Design Weddings + Events asked me to be apart of this fabulous styled shoot which also doubled in creating some lovely images for the brand new website and branding !!

A few words from Katie and Brittany about the shoot …. “For this shoot we wanted to create something modern, beautiful, soft, romantic and sexy. We asked one of our now-married couples, Kelly and Jason, to be our “models” – and WOW, did they ever deliver!”  For the hair and make-up we wanted something modern and unique, while still creating a romantic look for our bride. The bride was wearing double lashes, which made her eyes sultry and sexy; yet her pink lip screamed romantic. Her hair was very intricate – a real work of art. The dress had a grand tulle skirt and was soft and flowing, but dramatic. The top was lightly embroidered with some lacy goodness. Our groom, wore a charcoal suit, complete with a beautiful silver tie and white shirt. The stationary was a combination of beautiful blush satin fabric, silver ribbon, ivory lace, blush paper, and just the right amount of bling to create the absolute perfect stationary look. This luxurious florals were created using tall floral arrangements, in soft pinks and whites, with crystals dripping down from the base. Flowers inside water-filled vases, topped with floating candles. A soft, modest bouquet and boutonniere for the couple. The cake was soft ivory with a hint of blush detail in the flower, and a few small rhinestones, with cascading petals floating down the edge of the cake. The Oak Bay Beach Hotel just reopened in late 2012. There is no shortage of beautiful spots for incredible photos!  From the blush pink rosette overlay, to the silver rosette linen that made our stationary table come alive, to the soft ivory lace overlays that romantically draped the cake table – the various colours and textures created a luxurious and romantic look, without overdoing it. White candelabras, silver chargers, and ivory chiavari chairs and silver organza bow completed our look.
