It started at 10pm with cramps and a feeling that the time was here. I knew that what I was feeling was not just the ordinary pre-labour symptoms that I had been experiencing for weeks now. I couldn’t put my finger on it yet, but I knew this was different.
We arrived at the hospital for 1am and Hayden was born at 1:50am on March 25th after three pushes and a solid attempt on my part not to deliver him in our car.
That moment when he was put on my chest was the most incredible moment in my life. Ever. He was perfect. Beautiful. Alert. He had hair, which surprised us. Big blue eyes. Little lips. And looked so much like the both of us. My heart felt so whole. I was so relieved that he was healthy. I felt so amazingly connected and more in love with Darren than ever before.
As I look at Darren and Hayden curled up on the couch sleeping right now, I feel a peace and happiness and I feel complete. It is simply beautiful. And I love them both with all of my heart.
Hayden, your mama loves you more than you will ever know.
