When lots of photographers shoot panoramic images, they sometimes think that it’s the same thing as just shooting 16:9. They’re not totally wrong. But the panoramic formats are even more narrow on the top and bottom than that. In fact, they’re incredibly fun to work with and the format tends to bring me a lot of joy due to how fun it is. So here’s a tip on how to compose for panoramic photos.

The simple trick is to think about random patternization. But the other one is to remember that the rule of thirds pretty much applies here too. So you need to think about the center of the image and what’s running along the lines going horizontally in the frame.
Truly, just go fully random.
Folks often think that panoramic images only also need to be shot vertically. But nothing could be further from the truth. If you’re into shooting images mostly for social media, panroamic photos could be really awesome for you when you shoot vertically.
Just remember to slow down and compose based on what’s happening. Try to rotate the camera in weird ways too and you’ll make even more fascinating images.
