Mirrorless cameras are now taking center stage worldwide. Many young photographers who want to afford a good camera often find themselves lacking good options that are also reasonably priced. If you are someone who also feels stuck, then here are some options in the small sensor range that can be of help. These models, with the right lens, can be the powerhouse that helps with different genres of shooting scenarios.
Sony A6400

The Sony a6400 is a mirrorless APS-C camera that features a 24MP sensor, an ISO range of up to 102,400, 425 AF points, and Real-time Eye AF for both people and animals. You can also shoot 4K video at 30fps, has a 2.36M-dot EVF, and weighs 400g. While it is not entirely weather-sealed, it offers some weather resistance to withstand minor splashes. The autofocus system is remarkable, enabling wildlife and sports photographers to achieve optimal results. As for image quality, we said, “Images are sharp, with lifelike colors that are rich and vibrant. For the audience that they’re catering to, the JPEGs at least will be very worthwhile.”
Fujifilm X-T30

The Fujifilm X-T30 is also a 26MP camera, with -5.0EV exposure compensation, a burst rate of 30fps, and 4K/30p video recording options. The camera is a mini X-T3, featuring the same autofocus tracking algorithms. As a result, you get a consistent and sharp autofocus, and the design is also compact. As for the images, the camera doesn’t compromise in this regard. The JPEGs are detailed, right out of the camera, and the images are perfectly usable up to about ISO 3200. It is ideal if you travel often. The film simulation further makes it grab-worthy.
Canon R50

The Canon R50 is another 24MP camera with UHD 4K30p video recording. There is also a 2.36m-dot EVF, a 1.62m-dot rear touchscreen LCD, and a burst rate of 15fps. The camera is compact, lightweight, but it lacks weather sealing. So, it is best to work with a weather-sealed lens. The autofocus is great, as it can detect the eyes of humans, pets, and wildlife. In fact, it can keep up with soccer players, kids, and dogs, missing an occasional shot only. There are multiple creative modes as well for those who want to shoot on automatic. The JPEGs have low contrast, but you can increase it.
Nikon Z30

The Nikon Z30 may lack a viewfinder, but it is a great camera for anyone who is interested in travel, beginners, and vlogging. The Z30 features a 20MP sensor, an 11 fps burst rate, and can record 4K videos at 30fps, along with face/eye detection autofocus. It excels in small design, but it also lacks image stabilization. The autofocus performs decently in bright light and also works well in low light. The JEPGs are great, and the colors are bright. We printed images shot at ISO 12800 on 13×19-inch paper, and the results were good. You also get better lenses to work with than Canon’s RF-S lenses.
