I’ve previously written about how I don’t always like using expensive softboxes on the Profoto B10. So I’ve often looked for alternatives. A few days ago, I wrote about hacking a Roundflash beauty dish onto one. But then I thought about something else: the Rogue Flashbender. Specifically, we’re talking about the extra large ones. In 2020, we reviewed the Version 3 of these products. But if you’re trying to do something very quick, then they also work very well.
How to Do This Hack?

Literally, take the Rogue Flash bender, and wrap it around the head of the Profoto B10. Then you tighten the belt all the way to ensure that it doesn’t move. After this, you adjust the grip to allow the Profoto light to fire upward and have the light bounce off the flash bender and diffuse onto the subject. That’s it.
Why Do This Hack?
I did this hack because I don’t always have the space in my backpack to have a softbox. So if I do this, then I can have a small, collapsible diffuser.
How Do the Images Look?
Well, in my opinion, they look a bit less harsh than using a small softbox. If anything, it’s somewhere between a small umbrella and a softbox. And it usually just works very easily.

That’s it. It’s simple. The Extra Large Flash Bender doesn’t cost all that much. And if you’re not moving around a lot, then it works so well.
